Grant Cycle
The annual grant cycle allows for multiple proposals to be considered at once, giving the Foundation’s board a clearer picture of Montgomery County’s health and wellness and organizational capacity needs. This also lets prospective applicants know when to prepare applications and when to expect decisions. The approach is intended to be systematic rather than rigid. If it poses a genuine hardship for your organization, please contact the Foundation at Communication@hifmc.org.
All of the Foundation’s grant cycles are available through our online grant portal. Before starting an application, please first ensure that your organization does not already have a profile. To access our online grant portal, click here.

Grantee Training
All organizations interested in receiving grant funds from HIF must attend our annual training. Dates of the training will be provided once available. Training opportunities will be available virtually or will be recorded for interested partners. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on Facebook to receive up to date information and training dates.

Stay tuned for upcoming training topics and dates. If there are topics that you would be interested in learning more about, please let us know.
If you have missed a training or have not attended a training but are thinking of applying for an upcoming grant cycle, reach out to Communication@hifmc.org. As you plan for a conversation with HIF, consider these important talking points.
Capacity Building Cycle
During each capacity building grant application period, organizations that have not had a previous site visit should contact HIF staff to schedule a site visit (virtually or in-person). If you have had a site visit and would like to invite us to visit your organization again, this is welcomed during this period, as well. Interested applicants are required to attend or view the annual grant training. To learn more about our FY25 Capacity Building grant recipients, click here.
All HIF grant applications require a budget submission. HIF requests that our budget template be used and uploaded with the application in the grant portal. If you are ready to complete the grant budget template, you can find the excel spreadsheet here.
If your organization is in need of assistance with your application, please contact the Foundation at Communication@hifmc.org to set up a time to meet in advance of the application due date. Access the online grant portal here.
Small Grant Cycle
Small Grant applications will be available by invitation from the Foundation on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Emerging Needs Grant Cycle
If your organization has an urgent need that falls between one our existing grant cycles, reach out to organize a discussion with Foundation staff at Communication@hifmc.org. Emerging Need grant requests need to fit within our grant guidelines and grant priority areas.
