HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE FOUNDATION ADN-TO-BSN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
This award provides scholarship support of $1,500 each academic year for students accepted into MC’s nursing program who intend to earn their bachelor’s degree in nursing through the ADN-to-BSN dual admission program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). Bilingual students are particularly encouraged to apply, but this opportunity is open to any nursing student who meets the criteria.
HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE FOUNDATION BUILDING CAREER PATHWAYS SCHOLARSHIP FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND PUBLIC HEALTH STUDENTS
This award provides scholarship support of $1,500 each academic year for mental health and public health students who intend to earn their bachelor’s degree in social work or public health at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). Bilingual students are particularly encouraged to apply, but this opportunity is open to any student who meets the criteria.

MARY’S CENTER EXPANDS SERVICES TO SATURDAYS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Starting June 1, 2016, Mary’s Center expanded its hours of operation to include Saturdays to meet the increased need for medical services in Montgomery County. More than 400 new participants will benefit from the expanded hours. Since its opening, the Silver Spring location serves nearly 4,000 residents a year.
Current Mary’s Center patients or Montgomery County residents in need of medical services can make an appointment by calling 1-844-796-2797 or visiting www.maryscenter.org.
GOOD NEWS FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY’S UNDERPRIVILEGED RESIDENTS AS SAFETY-NET CLINICS TRANSFORM BUSINESS MODELS
The Healthcare Initiative Foundation (HIF) has awarded a $600,000 grant to the Primary Care Coalition (PCC) to implement business transformation for long-term sustainability at four safety-net clinics that serve Montgomery County residents with limited resources. With this funding, the PCC and participating clinics will strengthen and grow the high quality, comprehensive, cost effective safety-net health care system in Montgomery County. The participating clinics include Catholic Charities Medical Clinic (CCMC), Mansfield Kaseman Clinic, Mercy Medical Center, and Muslim Community Center Medical Clinic. Two additional clinics are expected to join the program in the future: Mobile Medical Care, Inc., and Proyecto Salud.

HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE FOUNDATION GRANT SUPPORTS MOBILEMED AND ASPIRE COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM: INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR UNDERSERVED MONTGOMERY COUNTY RESIDENTS
Mobile Medical Care, Inc. (MobileMed) and Aspire Counseling are pleased to announce that they were jointly awarded a $100,000 grant by the Healthcare Initiative Foundation (HIF) that continues support for integrated behavioral health services for MobileMed’s low-income primary care population. HIF funds will enhance quality of patient care by ensuring proactive screening and treatment for behavioral health conditions.

HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT FOR HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS PROGRAM IN TAKOMA PARK AND LONG BRANCH
The Healthcare Initiative Foundation (HIF) has awarded a $45,000 planning grant to Community Health and Empowerment through Education and Research (CHEER). The grant will go toward developing the Healthy Food Access Prescription program for residents in the Takoma Park and Long Branch communities with chronic health conditions that can be improved upon through good nutrition.
